MadeKing
tours are unique, being designed to help you discover the real Bali
while showing the beauty of the island in its most natural setting.
Culture and tradition are a large part of our tours. We show you the
real, day-to-day life of the Balinese people—how they live, what
they eat, and how they earn a living. Our back roads tours take you to
bustling villages as well as the quiet beauty of the world famous terraced
rice fields. You’ll see markets filled with exotic food and goods
as well as beautiful temples. We bring along traditional Balinese ceremonial
clothes so you can enter the temples and take part in the ceremony. On
a MadeKing tour, you’ll visit sites and places which aren’t
in the guide books—the real Bali!
Your
host, Made Darmayasa,
has been showing people his native island of Bali for many years. He’s
available for day trips, but recommends longer tours as the best way
to discover the real Bali. This will allow
you to spend more time in each place so you can get a better feel for
the people, the culture, and the traditions which make Bali such a unique
experience. He can put together a tour to meet your specific interests
and desires, or recommend one which others have enjoyed. He can also
take care of making arrangements for your hotels and recreational activities.
An example of a 5-day MadeKing
Tour
Day 1 - The day starts with
a drive to the village of Bedugul. Along the way you’ll see the
beautiful terraced rice fields for which Bali is so famous as well
as farms where they grow coffee, cocoa, and cloves.
You’ll stop at the passar (market) where you’ll discover
exotic fruit, flowers and spices. After a visit to the water temple at
Lake Bratan we’ll take in the beautiful view of Lake Buyan and
Tamblingan, then stop for lunch. After your Balinese meal we’ll
visit a little known waterfall near Munduk which few tourists get to
see, then go to Pemuteran where you’ll spend the night in the Taman
Sari Hotel.
Day 2 - You’ll spend the day snorkeling or diving the
crystal clear water at Menjanga island from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm,
then head back to the
Taman Sari Hotel.
Day 3 - A tour of the Lovina area begins at 11:00am. You’ll
swim in the hot springs at the banjar, visit a Buddhist temple, see
the village and
beaches of Lovina, and spend the night in a hotel.
Day
4 - If you like, you can wake up
early and see the dolphins frolicking off the beach in Lovina. Then
we’ll head towards Amed. Along the
way we’ll stop at the Beji temple, Jagaraga temple, and Made’s
home village of Sawan where you can watch craftsmen at work
creating a gamelan (traditional Balinese instrument) and some of the
island's best knives. We’ll
continue to Kintamani where you’ll
see awe inspiring views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur. If you want
to hike
up Mount Batur the next morning we can stay in Kintamani. Otherwise
we’ll go on to Amed.
Day 5 - Waking up at 5:45 am, you’ll see a dramatic sunrise as the fisherman
in their traditional Balinese boats return from their morning fishing
trip. Before leaving Amed, you can walk through the village and watch
people make sea salt just as they have for centuries. On the way back
to Ubud we’ll stop at Tirta Gangga to see the Water Palace of the
Karangasem kingdom, the Bali Aga (traditional Bali) village of Tenganan
where they make the famous double ikat fabric and baskets, and the Museum
of the Justice in Klungkung with its ornate painted ceilings in the traditional
Balinese style.
